Popcorn Math!

Math students in Dr. Sharp's class did “Popcorn Math” on October 20.  Dr. Sharp poured out one bag of microwave popcorn on the table, students made four stacks, then counted the popped and unpopped kernels.  They then showed the decimal, fraction and percent representation for each category.  Pretty fun!

Forest Heights Kicks Off WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Program!

On October 1st, at 6pm, Forest Heights and WATCH D.O.G.S. Program will kick off a new father involvement program with a pizza night at Forest Heights in the cafeteria.

WATCH D.O.G.S. is the safe schools initiative of the National Center for Fathering (www.fathers.com). It was created in response to the Jonesboro, AR school shooting in 1998. Since then, the program has spread to more than 800 schools in over 30 states.

We will be meeing on Thursday, October 1 at 6pm in our cafeteria.

Fathers and father-figures are invited to sign up to spend one day this year volunteering, serving as a positive male role model and helping increase a sense of security in the building. During their WATCH D.O.G.S. day, dads will engage in various activities such as welcoming students during arrival, reading to classes, tutoring small groups of students, having fun at recess, or simply sitting down and connecting with students during lunch. They can share about their careers and experiences... the possibilities are endless! Click here to download this file

In order for you to come you need to do download the attachment, fill out, and return with your student (ASAP) saying that you will attend the pizza night so that we can have an accurate count for the food!
